Wind socks and rainbow words

I thought I would share with you a couple of EASY March decorations that my students did this week. This is a wind sock that is really, really easy to prepare! Just cut a green strip for the base; then cut strips in the colors of the rainbow. Students glue the strips to the green base in rainbow order. When finished, they draw an oval or circle shape for the pot onto black paper. Glue to the top of the rainbow strips. Cut small yellow circles for the gold and glue into the black pot. Color the words "March" and attach to the base. Staple the strip together when dry. Punch 2 holes on each side of the green strip and thread a pipe cleaner through the holes. If you would like the words "March", click here. They look cute hanging from the ceiling in the classroom! My students have been doing quite a few "hat" projects. This week they made leprechauns and drew pictures and wrote words that reminded them of rainbow colors. First, they drew a circle head onto skin colored paper. To make the beard, they drew a large cloud shape upon orange paper and glued the head on top of the beard. I pre-cut the green rectangle for the hat and stapled the words to the back of the hat. The children glued the hat to the top of the head making sure that the paper was not caught in the glue. They added a brim and buckle and glued the words to the front of the hat. Then they drew and wrote their rainbow words. Pretty easy! Click here for the rainbow words!
