Welcome Back to School gift with an Apple theme

I love to give my students a gift when they come to visit us for the first time. Our little kinders drop in a few days before school starts to meet us, get acclimated to their classroom, and  drop off their school supplies. I really enjoy this day because it is relaxed and gives me a chance to get to know them before we start on that BIG first day! When the kids bring in their supplies, there are clues on the pocket chart as to where they are to put everything. I have the scavenger hunt posted in my TPT store here if you would like to download it and see if it might work for you! After they have finished their scavenger hunt, they come to me and I give them an ALL ABOUT ME poster to fill out at home with their parents. We talk for a few minutes and when it is finally time for them to go, I give them their gift. Since my theme this year is apples, I am giving them an apple gift. I try to limit the amount of money that I spend on these gifts, but I also want to make it fun for them. So, I purchased pretty, green, plastic cups from Wal-mart as well as some pretty ribbon and colorful buttons. I hot glued the ribbon to the middle of the cup and secured with a button that was hot glued on the front. The poem that I added this year is an acrostic poem using the letters in the word APPLE.
Here is what I added to the cup:
1. Mini maze (A-MAZE-ING That's you!)
2. Eraser (PERFECT No one is perfect! Mistakes help us learn!)
3. Mini puzzle (PIECE Every piece fits! You are that piece!)
4. Laffy Taffy (LAUGH Laugh everyday!)
5. Mini hand clappers (EVERYBODY Everybody deserves a hand!)

As I said in a previous post, I KNOW that apples are not a unique theme, so my "Welcome to the Crop!" stick is probably something that you have seen numerous times! But sometimes it is fun to put a new twist on an old theme and that is exactly what I am doing this year!
